Col. Jay D. Vanderpool was the Liaison Officer sent by Headquarters, Southwest Pacific Area (SWPA) Command to southern Luzon, including Batangas, to coordinate guerrilla activities in the area in preparation for the Allied invasion. Transcriptions of a selection of his communications either with guerrilla units or offices of the United States Army are compiled in this section. In this page is a transcription1 of a memorandum issued by Vanderpool to all loyal guerrillas and citizens containing additional instructions from the General Headquarters of the Southwest Pacific Area (SWPA) Command.

2. This information will be forwarded and spread to all known loyal people so that the maximum destruction of enemy equipment will be possible.
3. Employ the Inter-Guerrilla Courier Service to the fullest extent to carry out the orders of our Commander-in-Chief, General Douglas MacArthur.
4. Every loyal person who receives this communication is enjoined to strike the enemy with all power at his disposal in order to carry out these orders.
