[TRANSCRIPTION]
The Intelligence Group, 3rd Batallion, 49th Regiment, 47th Division is an affiliate of the Hunters-ROTC guerrilla organization commanded by Eleuterio Adevoso and one of the largest outfits that operated in Southern Luzon during the Japanese occupation and subsequent liberation. This intelligence group operated from the then-town of Lipa and was commanded by one Jose Alex Katigbak. In this page are transcriptions1 of two short documents, the first a report on the guerrilla outfit with findings by a Lt. Marion Allbright; and the second the official U.S. Army letter informing the outfit of non-recognition.

Headquarters, Katigbak Unit
Lipa, Batangas, P.I.
Dear Mr. Katigbak:
The Commanding General has directed that you be informed that the Intelligence Unit, 3rd Battalion, 49th Regiment, Hunters ROTC, purporting to be a guerrilla organization under your nominal control, has not been favorably considered for recognition.
It is felt that the recognition extended to personnel of the Miguel Ver Regiment, Hunters ROTC Guerrillas, a composite unit from the overall command under Colonel Terry Adevoso, constitutes a just and adequate acknowledgment of the military services performed by the Hunters ROTC unit.
It is desired to emphasize that each claimant member of the unit is considered to have had just and adequate appraisal for recognition when his services were evaluated concurrently with this study of the unit with which he claims membership. Individual requests were not necessary nor appropriate then, or now, as their acceptance would in effect constitute unjustified duplication of consideration of one individual by this headquarters. However, this does not preclude submission for casualty recognition by those individuals who are qualified and feel justified in entering such claims. Upon request by interested individuals, appropriate forms will be forwarded.
Your attention is invited to Presidential Executive Order No. 68, Commonwealth of the Philippines, copy of which is attached, for any necessary action in connection therewith.
