Photos of the Batangas Provincial Capitol [1926 & 1927 BPW Annual Report]
The Batangas Provincial Capitol is where the Office of the Governor of the Province of Batangas, along with its allied and accompanying services, are located. Because the now-city of Batangas is the capital of the province, this was where the capitol was also naturally built.
The capitol was completed in 1926. Among the features of the building were a reinforced concrete design, a one-story wing on either side of the main building and a terrace on its front. At the time, the building was located some way outside of the poblacion or town center. At present, however, it is on elevated ground very much within what would be considered the poblacion.
Below, a photograph of the capitol building while it was still under construction. The photograph was digitally extracted from the January 1926 edition of the Annual Report of the Director of Public Works1.
Below, meanwhile, is a photograph of the same building soon after it was completed in 1926. The photograph was digitally extracted from the January 1927 edition of the Annual Report of the Director of Public Works.
