Lt. Jose Zuño’s Intelligence Report, 25 March 1945
The Luansing Unit Fil-American Batangas Guerrillas were commanded by one Galicano Luansing and known loosely as the “Luansing’s Unit.” This guerrilla outfit was at one time or the other during the Japanese occupation affiliated with the Fil-American Irregular Troops and also the President Quezon’s Own Guerrillas. By the time the Allied forces return to the Philippines, it was operating independently. This unit assisted the United States Army in campaigns against the Japanese forces from Balayan, Batangas Town, Lipa, Rosario and San Juan. In this document1, one Lt. Jose Zuño filed an intelligence report regarding Japanese activities in the towns of Rosario, Lipa and San Juan.

1. Rosario – No Japanese forces are stationed here. Once in a while, it is visited by Japanese patrols. The previous practice of murdering civilians and burning of houses has been observed stopped. A patrol of nine (9) Japanese passed Rosario in the morning of March 24 around 4:30 destined for Ibaan, but when contacted by the Guerrillas of Rosario, changed their route and went back to Lipa and reported our encounter. A force of about 200 as per report by the civilians arrived Rosario at about 12:00 P.M. but all returned to Lipa at about 5:00 P.M.
2. Lipa – No available intelligence reports have been reported so far in this headquarters.
3. San Juan de Bolbok – For explanation and detailed intelligence information, see attached rough sketch of San Juan with its objectives. No intelligence reports concerning the concentration of the Japanese around San Juan is available in this headquarters.
