Letter of Col. Jorge Espina to Lt. Col Isaac Farol, March 1944 (Second)
The Luansing Unit Fil-American Batangas Guerrillas were commanded by one Galicano Luansing and known loosely as the “Luansing’s Unit.” This guerrilla outfit was at one time or the other during the Japanese occupation affiliated with the Fil-American Irregular Troops and also the President Quezon’s Own Guerrillas. By the time the Allied forces return to the Philippines, it was operating independently. This unit assisted the United States Army in campaigns against the Japanese forces from Balayan, Batangas Town, Lipa, Rosario and San Juan. In this originally handwritten document1, Colonel Jorge Espina, who organized FAIT units in Batangas, gave additional instructions to somebody Lt. Col. Isaac Farol.

To: Isaac
1. Enclosed are messages of Acosta and Jandig.
2. Remember all these things:
(a) I’ve given orders to Acosta to select good positions in Laiya – Malabrigo & stay there.
(b) I’ve instructed him to set up a message center camp in Malabrigo, whose duty is to take charge of all messages from you & me to him. So Sunday or Monday – send men to Malabrigo to locate the message center camp.
(c) I’ve also given orders to Upo that if they will be called by you and Estong, they will always leave behind in their present camp some men to handle messages.
(d) I guess that (this is according to suggestions of Upo & Tibu) they want that before we do any activities, we must first wait for what is to happen to prisoners of Japs and in the jail. So, it would be wise that while we’re waiting for developments, send men out to stock supplies and also to Malabrigo as mentioned above.
3. I’ll be out for a week due to recent developments in Batangas. Ano Burog [not sure, somewhat illegible] not harmed, but still in Lipa. Mayor Perez not wanted. Possibility of Nitoy to be also hot [not sure], however, he can take care of himself.
Regards,
