Letter to FAIT-Batangas Headquarters on Non-Revision of Recognition Dates, May 1948
The Fil-American Irregular Troops was a large guerrilla outfit founded by ex-United States Army officer Colonel Hugh Straughn. It operated in a wide area in Luzon and had many units in the different towns around the province of Batangas. The Batangas Guerrilla Headquarters, operating in the town of Batangas, was one such unit. In this May 1948 document, Norman L. Quigg of the US Army’s Adjutant General’s Office wrote to one Crispin Aguda of the Batangas Headquarters FAIT to inform the latter of the unfavorable consideration of a request for the revision of recognition dates.

Dear Mr. Aguda:
This letter is to reply to your request for the status of the revision of recognition dates of the Batangas Guerrilla Headquarters, Fil-American Irregular Troops (FAIT), made to this headquarters on 3 May 1948.
It is desired to inform you that the Batangas Guerrilla Headquarters, FAIT was not favorably considered for revision of recognition dates on 28 August 1947. After extensive investigation and full consideration of all substantiating evidence submitted by this unit and a careful analysis of all other available information of the military activities of the unit from its inception, scrutinized in relation to the overall resistance movement, it is determined that the unit failed to fulfill the requirements of our constant guerrilla recognition criterion used in the consideration of all claimant guerrilla units.
Personnel recognized with the Batangas Guerrilla Headquarters, FAIT who were former members of the Hunters ROTC Guerrillas have been considered for revision of recognition dates with that command.
We regret that a more favorable reply with regard to the revision of recognition dates of this unit cannot be given you.
