Map of Taal Volcano c. 1903
Below is a map of the Taal Volcano complex extracted from Volume I of the document “Census of the Philippine Islands Taken Under the Direction of the Philippine Commission in the Year 1903.” Volume I was about “Geography, History and Population.”
The data contained in the publication was compiled and published by the United States Bureau of the Census. It was published in Washington D.C. in the year 1905. The map of the Taal Volcano complex is part of a section of the publication entitled “Earthquakes.”
Note that the lake itself is still identified in the map as Lake Bombon (or Bonbon, Bongbon), the lake’s antiquated name.
