The town of Mataasnakahoy is the Province of Batangas’ 3rd smallest town, with a land area of just 2,210 hectares. Its 2020 population as per the Philippine Census was placed at 30,621. The town used to be part of Lipa until it was established as a separate municipality in 1931 via an Executive Order during the American colonial era The order took effect in January of the following year, 1932.
In the present day, Mataasnakahoy is part of Batangas’ 3rd legislative district. It is classified as a 4th income class municipality, although its proximity to Lipa means that its inhabitants all the enjoy the modern amenities present in the city to which it once belonged. The town can be reached by road from Manila via the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road through the city of Lipa.
